Surry County Booklet

The Surry County, Virginia 350th Anniversary Committee proudly presents an historical and photographic collection of Surry County. When Surry County celebrated its 350th anniversary in 2002, one of the committee’s goals was the printing of this booklet. With numerous volunteer hours and the
financial support of the county government, this goal has become a publication. A special thanks to all those who have made this possible.

Surry County is unique in its founding, diversified in its culture, and continues as an agricultural-dependent county competing with nearby urban development. Many of the county’s citizens can date their family history to the founding of Surry in 1652.

As you review this collection of vintage and recent photography, peruse the brief history, and take the time to truly visit Surry, you will find why so many
people continue to celebrate her founding. The citizens of Surry County are proud of their heritage. This booklet will give you a walk through Surry and back into time.
